October 11, 2016
So I’m currently on a flight from Toronto to Miami and thought this is the perfect time to write my bio (37,000 feet in the air).
Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. For the last 6 years my personal tagline has been “Life in a Suitcase” — I’ve been fortunate enough to explore the world with my job, including: Brazil, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur, Canada and the US. I work in IT (Broadcasting Software) and love what I do, regardless of the location. November 2016 marks the end of my work-travelling lifestyle, as I’ve been able to “hang up my passport” and remain grounded in Toronto for the next year.
I’ve learnt a lot of tips and tricks when travelling — and I’ll share these with you one day.
If we step back for just a minute, here are the basics you need to know:
Born: Cambridge, England
University Degree: Linguistics at University of Reading
Favourite Colour: Blue
Aside from travel, what do I do…? Well that’s been a huge part of my life for the over 6 years — so it’s difficult to look past that.
Back in England I was an avid field hockey player (captain), but haven’t had the chance to play for a few years. I’m looking to find a regular team in Toronto, perhaps football (soccer) or something more adventurous. (I tried my hand at softball this summer, but it didn’t really stick).
One thing you’ll soon come to learn (and love) about me, is my fascination with food. I enjoying cooking experimentally, throwing recipe books out the window — it can be hit or miss, and Jane will always give me an honest thumbs up or down. If there is ever an opportunity to find the perfect burger, I’ll be first in line.
Now it’s time to explore the world and eat — never forgetting that my first home is Cambridge, and my current home is Toronto.
I think that’s a good start.
