GALLERY: Jardin de Jade 蘇浙匯 | Wan Chai, Hong Kong

Since we departed Toronto, everyone’s been asking for food photos. Of course, Hong Kong is known for its cuisine, not just of Cantonese dishes but its international selection.

On our first night in Hong Kong, my parents took Darren and me to a restaurant near our hotel in Wan Chai: the Michelin one-star (2015-2016) restaurant Jardin de Jade or 蘇浙匯.

My parents decided the dinner menu and ordered some of the restaurant’s signature dishes, including a light plate of pan-fry small shrimps (清炒河蝦仁), sliced ham in a honey glaze (桂花蜜火肪), and the must-have vegetarian abalone — certainly my favourite of the night. Their xiao long bao was also the best I’ve ever had, and you simply can’t go to a Shanghai restaurant and not have the soup-filled baos.

We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our trip food-wise. Check out the gallery for photos!
